Meggitt Training Systems to exhibit latest in simulation training technology
As global defence budgets continue to tighten and demand for personnel and equipment grows, defence-training requirements are driving demand for simulation solutions. The Department of National Defence (DND) and Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) personnel will be in Ottawa May 28-29 for the country’s largest security and defence tradeshow, CANSEC.
These leaders will visit exhibiting defence manufacturers and suppliers, including Meggitt Training Systems, looking for solutions to these challenges.

“In today’s economy, and with the number of conflicts active or threatening around the world, a fully operational vehicle fleet and a combat-ready force are ever-growing challenges,” said Peter Longstaff, president of Meggitt Training Systems Quebec. “Using simulation training solutions minimizes the wear on combat vehicles and can reduce costs associated with live fire training exercises.”
In response to this growing reliance on simulation training, Meggitt Training Systems, maker of FATS® and Caswell technologies, looked beyond today’s training needs and designed its FATS® M100 simulation system architecture with future training requirements in mind. At this year’s CANSEC show, Meggitt will demonstrate the FATS® M100 designed to support multiple, simultaneous simulation and training modes using a flexible systems architecture.
The flexibility of the FATS® M100 has enabled Meggitt to move forward on new simulation training advancements – such as the inclusion of a CryENGINE® 3-D Marksmanship Training environment with Meggitt’s tetherless BlueFire® weapon simulators. In addition to CryENGINE®, the advanced architecture allows for the integration of additional internally developed and third party simulation, training, and gaming products such as Virtual Battlespace® 2 (VBS®2) and (VBS®3).
In addition to its small-arms training systems capabilities, Meggitt will be demonstrating its armoured fighting vehicle (AFV) trainer and simulation capabilities and its unmanned vehicle targetry. As Canada’s long-time leader in the AFV training sector, Meggitt specializes in low- to high-fidelity AFV training systems, including LAVII and Leopard tank weapons training systems.
“As a long-time partner with Canada’s Armed Forces, we look forward to demonstrating the next generation in simulation training at this year’s CANSEC,” Longstaff added.
