Airbus and Indonesia’s Lion Group have committed to partner on a Training Centre Services Agreement to develop flight training programmes for Lion Group carriers in accordance with Airbus and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) standards.
Under the terms of the agreement, Airbus will be providing syllabi, training documentation, tools and the courseware necessary for training courses for Airbus aircraft to be conducted at Lion Group’s Angkasa Aviation Academy.

Airbus has also agreed to have personnel stationed at Angkasa Aviation Academy’s simulator training centre in Jakarta. The centre already has simulators for existing aircraft types operated by Lion Group, with 4 A320 simulators on order - the first of which will be delivered this month.
“The decision to partner with Airbus for provision of flight training services, demonstrates that Lion Group and Angkasa Aviation Academy are investing heavily in training and are continuing to bring to Indonesia internationally recognized training courses,” says Rusdi Kirana, President Director of Lion Group, Angkasa Aviation Academy’s parent company. “We believe that having these flight training courses in Indonesia demonstrates Airbus’s commitment to this region.”
“This new cooperation with Airbus on flight training will enhance Indonesia’s training capabilities and will complement our current activities. It will offer the newest flight simulator technology in conjunction with the industry’s most experienced instructors,” he says.
“We thank Lion Group for their confidence in our flight training services. These will bring our expert training know-how and technology to Indonesia with Lion Group,” said Didier Lux, Executive Vice President Airbus Customer Services. “Serving Lion Group allows us to directly support our customer’s rapid growth by providing the best training for its A320 Family pilots.”
Lion Group placed its first order with Airbus in March 2013 when it ordered 234 A320 Family aircraft – one of the largest single orders Airbus has ever received. The Group is due to receive its first aircraft in Q3 this year for operation by its full service unit Batik Air.”
