BAE demos it's at home on the range

BAE Systems has drawn on its 60-year heritage at the Woomera Test Range (WTR), its extensive experience as a global test range specialist, and its strong track record in complex systems integration and sustainment, to propose a robust and reliable Mission System Solution, incorporating leading-edge technology, for JP3024 – Woomera Range Remediation.

BAE Systems’ proposal incorporates state of the art technology to meet the Range’s current testing and evaluation needs, as well as its future requirements - to at least 2035.The solution will support the required rate of effort (ROE) using the existing operator capacity, and includes a dependable and cost-effective through-life support program.

To deliver JP 3024, BAE Systems has teamed with global Doppler radar specialist Weibel, which will exclusively supply the Air Surveillance Radar (ASR) and Multiple Object Tracking Radar.

Weibel’s pedigree in ASR and T&E special-purpose radars and global radar technology complements BAE Systems’ significant experience in designing range instrumentation products and delivering range operations and sustainment services in remote locations around the world, including Woomera.

“As both prime systems integrator and Range Control and Safety Systems (RCSS) supplier, we are well-positioned to manage and mitigate system integration risks,” said BAE Systems’ Land & Integrated Systems Director, Kim Scott.

“Our solution for JP 3024 includes the opportunity for early delivery of radar capability to mitigate capability risk. In addition, most of the Range instrumentation and RCSS in our solution are BAE Systems’ products which will further reduce risk for the Commonwealth.”

“We are very proud of our long and distinguished history with the Woomera Test Range. Throughout that association, BAE Systems has developed a unique understanding of the facility’s requirements and has evolved the skills and capabilities to provide the best possible solutions,” said Mr Scott.

“It would be a privilege to further develop the Range systems so that it can continue to provide vital test and evaluation capabilities to the Australian Defence Force and its customers around the world.”
