Fokker partners with VIM airlines for TCAS 7.1 on their Boeing 757 fleet.
Fokker Services, part of Fokker Technologies, announces that it has received the order from Russian operator VIM Airlines for the introduction of TCAS 7.1 on their Boeing 757 fleet.
The development of version 7.1 of the Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) was initiated by EUROCONTROL and will bring improvements to the reversal logic by detecting situations in which, despite the Resolution Advisories, the aircraft continue to converge vertically.

The mandate is applicable in European Union airspace as of 1 March 2012 to all aircraft above 5,700 kg Maximum Take-off Mass or authorised to carry more than 19 passengers. An extended deadline, i.e. 1 December 2015, is granted to aircraft with an individual certificate of airworthiness issued before 1 March 2012 and equipped with version 7.0. The EU Implementing Rule sets an earlier equipage requirements than those published in ICAO Annex 10 (1 January 2014 new installations, 1 January 2017 existing units).
The modification entails the replacement of the present equipment with less expensive equipment. The modification is certified by Fokker Services under their DOA EASA.21J.059 privileges. Fokker Services offers both update and replacements with the TCAS 7.1 software for Thales/L3/ACCS, Honeywell and Rockwell Collins computers.
“It is a pleasure working with Fokker Services. They will assist us with the entire project, integration, certification and delivery of all material no matter which TCAS OEM is involved. This will enable VIM to reduce the effort to have the TCAS 7.1 upgraded in timely manner before the deadline in 2015” Says Technical Director of VIM Airlines, Alexander Ivanov.
Tom Milder, Director Modifications: “We are excited that VIM Airlines, a Moscow based operator, has chosen for Fokker Services. We continue to expand the products and services for the Boeing operator community and are delighted in having obtained a strong footprint on the Russian market”.
