Universal Detection Enters Strategic Alliance with RAE Systems to Develop Advanced Solutions for Homeland Security Markets( LOS ANGELES - October 6, 2005 ) - Agreement Aims to Integrate UDTT's BSM-2000 Bio-Threat Detector with RAE's Chemical and Radiation Monitors
Universal Detection Technology (OTCBB:UDTT) (FWB:PO8), a developer of early-warning monitoring technologies to protect people from bioterrorism and other infectious health threats, has signed a significant cooperative agreement with San Jose, CA-based homeland security technology company RAE Systems, Inc. (AMEX:RAE), to enable the integration of fully optimized new homeland security and industrial monitoring applications.
The Global C4ISR Market 2014-2024
The agreement puts in place a novel strategic alliance intended to enable the creation of a new generation of enhanced homeland security solutions based on a planned integration of UDTT's BSM-2000 anthrax and bio-threat detector with RAE's rapidly deployable chemical and radiation monitors and multi-sensor networks. RAE is a leading manufacturer of radiation and chemical monitoring systems, and other safety-related sensors for homeland security and industrial applications. RAE products are in use by many U.S. government agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, and the Department of State, as well as all branches of the U.S. military, and by numerous city and state agencies.
"This exciting new partnership will be mutually beneficial for Universal Detection Technology and RAE Systems," said Nima Montazeri, UDTT's Vice President of Strategic Development. "We are delighted to collaborate with RAE and to develop a highly fruitful long-term relationship. In the short term, we seek to create an interface to effectively integrate the BSM-2000 into RAE's products for optimal, total monitoring solutions. This partnership is expected to have other advantages, as well, including bringing increased market visibility and credibility to our BSM-2000 and overall advanced technology capabilities."
Both parties have also agreed to work jointly to perform quality testing on the new solutions produced under the strategic alliance, Mr. Montazeri said. "Such testing would focus on advanced real-time wireless communication between the BSM-2000 and RAE products, within a certain predefined range. These tests would also include verification of correct presentations by RAE products of all data, numerical values, alerts, and other information communicated from the BSM-2000," he said.
UDTT is the exclusive licensor of proprietary technology originally developed by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) for the Mars exploration missions. UDTT's BSM-2000 is a detection and monitoring device that combines JPL's superior spore detection technology with UDTT's proprietary aerosol capture technology. The BSM-2000 device is designed to quickly detect the presence of airborne infectious spores, such as anthrax and other dangerous biological agents. The UDTT monitoring technology is designed to provide early-warning alerts about potential threats to enable the commencement of appropriate safety measures that ensure the highest possible levels of protection of human lives and health. Homeland security authorities have said that early-warning of threats such as anthrax attacks is one of the most significant factors in protecting the public.
