Communications Satellite Inmarsat-5 F1 Delivered to Baikonur
The telecommunications spacecraft Inmarsat 5F-1, was flown to the Baikonur Cosmodrome in preparation for the launch of a rocket carrier "Proton-M" with the upper stage "Breeze-M".
The Inmarsat 5F-1 spacecraft, weighing more than 6 metric tons, was manufactured by Boeing Satellite Systems of El Segundo, California for satellite operator Inmarsat, plc of London, England. The spacecraft will be moved to the finishing room assembly and test facility 92-A50, where in the next few days, testing will begin. The tests include a series of electrical and functional inspections, and refueling unit propellants.

Inmarsat 5 F-1 is scheduled for launch in December 2013 which is contracted by International Launch Services (ILS), a subsidiary of Khrunichev. The Proton rocket for the launch of Inmarsat 5 F-1 was transported to the launch site at the end of last month.
