Curtiss-Wright Controls Awarded Contract by Bell Helicopter

  • For Crash Protected Data Acquisition Recorder technology to be offered in the Bell 412EPI Helicopter program

Curtiss-Wright Controls, Inc. today announced that it has received a contract from Bell Helicopter to supply crash protected data acquisition recorders for use on the Bell 412EPI helicopter. Under the agreement, Curtiss-Wright Controls’ Avionics & Electronics (CWC-AE) division will provide Bell Helicopter with its compact Data Acquisition Flight Recorder (DAFR) product which will be offered to customers as an option on the 412EPI to provide the  rotorcraft with Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR), Flight Data Recorder (FDR), and additional key data acquisition capabilities.

“We are very proud that Bell Helicopter has chosen our crash protected data recorders for use on the latest variant of their popular Bell 412 rotorcraft,” said Tom Quinly, president of Curtiss-Wright Controls.  “We were able to enhance our DAFR to meet Bell Helicopter’s specific requirements and support their timescales for this program. Bell Helicopter is a key strategic customer to Curtiss-Wright and we are pleased to build on our long-standing relationship.”

The Curtiss-Wright Controls Avionics & Electronics (CWC-AE) division is manufacturing the products covered by this agreement in its Christchurch, UK facility. The products are being shipped to Bell Helicopter in Piney Flats, TN.
