Two killed as ambulance plane crashes in Iceland

Two people were killed when a small ambulance plane carrying three crashed in northern Iceland on Monday, local media reported.

The airplane, reported to be a Beechcraft B200 Super King Air, crashed near Akureyri airport after having aborted a first landing attempt, the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service RUV said on its website.

Two pilots and a paramedic were on board, returning from an ambulance mission, according to the report. While two were killed, the lone survivor was hospitalised.

The cause of the accident remained unclear as of late Monday.
