BAE Regional Aircraft Offers Jetstream 41 Brake Maintenance Support and Wins 1st Customer

BAE Systems Regional Aircraft is now offering brake maintenance support for the Jetstream 41 regional turboprop airliner and has secured its first customer for this new service from Sky Express of Greece.

In co-operation with Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems of Coventry – the Original Equipment Manufacturer – BAE Systems is now able to offer a very competitive fixed price overhaul for Jetstream 41 brakes maintenance with a 30-day turnaround time.

Craig Fleming, Sales and Support Manager for BAE Systems Regional Aircraft stated: “In co-operation with Meggitt we saw an opportunity to offer a much better and faster service to our customers. First, we sourced some Jetstream 41 brakes which were overhauled and put into stock for exchange purposes.

“Then working in partnership with Meggitt, we have developed the brake maintenance agreement, where BAE Systems becomes the prime interface with customers and manages the transaction of customer-owned brakes. This was backed up with Meggitt who perform the brake overhaul in-house and have invested in parts manufacture to provision necessary stock levels in order to satisfy the 30-day turnaround time.

“This new offering, using our supply chain management skills, has changed the market dynamic to offer a long-term solution with Meggitt, a fast turnaround and a cost-effective price for all operators.”

Sky Express is a Crete-based regional airline with three Jetstream 41s that operates a wide variety of Public Service Obligation (PSO) routes linking the Greek islands.

This new service offering builds upon an agreement last year with Meggitt under which a new wheels and brakes maintenance support service was offered to new operators of the BAe 146/Avro RJ.  Since then, operators including North Cariboo of Canada, Star Peru and Astra Airlines of Greece have become customers for this new offering.
