P&W Statement on PW1100G-JM Engine Testing
Pratt & Whitney conducts extensive ground and flight tests to validate and optimize the engine design prior to engine certification. We intentionally run the engine well beyond design limits to validate the integrity of the design. Earlier this year during a routine engine inspection we uncovered an issue with a turbine vane and made a minor modification to correct the issue. The engine, which continued its test program, accomplished all objectives completing more than 100 hours.
Extensive testing confirms that the PW1100G-JM engine is on track to meet our performance guarantees. Engine certification remains on schedule for the third quarter of 2014 with entry into service planned for the fourth quarter of 2015.
