Rolls-Royce Powers 1,000th Airbus A330 Delivery
- Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines today powered the delivery of the 1,000th Airbus A330 aircraft.
The aircraft was delivered to Cathay Pacific, which in 1995 became the first airline to use Trent 700 power when its first Airbus A330 entered service. Today the Cathay Pacific Group is the largest Rolls-Royce Trent 700 customer.
Phil Harris, Rolls-Royce, Senior Vice President – Civil Large Engines, said: “We congratulate Airbus on achieving this milestone. The Trent 700 powered A330 has become one of the aerospace industry’s great successes. We are particularly pleased the 1,000th aircraft has been delivered to Cathay Pacific, a customer that continues to play an integral part in the Trent engine story.”

Ivan Chu, Cathay Pacific Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are especially proud that the A330 we take delivery of today is also the 1,000th A330 to come off the Airbus production line, and that, like so many other A330s, it is powered by Rolls-Royce engines. Over the years Cathay Pacific, Airbus and Rolls-Royce have developed a special working relationship that is defined by strong partnership and support, and I am delighted this relationship will continue with the next-generation A350 XWB.”
The Trent 700, the only engine specifically designed for the Airbus A330, is the largest selling Trent family member with over 1,500 in service or on firm order. The engine is the market leader on the Airbus A330 and has won 70 per cent of new orders over the last four years.
