Norwegian Air Shuttle Selects P&W PurePower PW1100G-JM Engines to Power Airbus A320neo Family Aircraft

Pratt & Whitney and Norwegian Air Shuttle signed a definitive agreement to power 50 firm Airbus A320neo family aircraft with PurePower PW1100G-JM engines. First delivery is scheduled for 2016. Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX) company.

"We chose the PurePower engine because everyone should be able to afford to fly and the benefits this engine delivers will allow us to offer the most affordable prices at the highest quality," said Asgeir Nyseth, COO, Norwegian Air Shuttle. "Keeping our operating costs low is one way we deliver more competitive fares to our customers, and we believe the savings in maintenance and fuel burn we'll receive from this engine can be parleyed to our customers."
