Raytheon exceeds AMRAAM delivery requirements of USAF
- Second rocket motor source certified
Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) continues to exceed renegotiated delivery schedule requirements of the AIM-120 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) to the U.S. Air Force following the renewal of contract payments in December 2012, a successful live-fire test and certification of a second rocket motor source.
Nammo Group, the second AMRAAM rocket motor source based in Raufoss, Norway, was officially certified by the Nonnuclear Munitions Safety Board earlier this year. In 2010, Raytheon and Nammo began development and qualification of an alternative rocket motor for the AIM-120 AMRAAM.

"Maintaining consistent and timely AMRAAM deliveries to the U.S. government and our international customers is a top priority for Raytheon, and Nammo has played a critical role in this effort," said Dr. Taylor W. Lawrence, president of Raytheon Missile Systems.
The live-fire test was performed in January 2013 at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. All test objectives were successfully accomplished, according to U.S. Air Force officials.
AMRAAM is a combat-proven missile that has demonstrated operational flexibility in both air-to-air and surface-launch engagement scenarios and provides today's warfighter with enhanced operational capability, cost effectiveness and future growth options/solutions.
Procured by 36 countries, the combat-proven AMRAAM has been operational and integrated on the F-16, F-15, F/A-18, F-22, Typhoon, Gripen, Tornado, Harrier, F-4 and the Joint Strike Fighter aircraft. It is also the baseline missile for the NATO-approved Norwegian Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System.
The AMRAAM program is currently on track and weapons continue to be delivered to customers.
