Rockwell Collins completes 1st installation of its Ascend Aircraft Information Manager on Cessna XLS+
- Secure solution brings unprecedented level of convenience to aircraft database and maintenance management
Rockwell Collins today announced that its Ascend Aircraft Information Manager (AIM), the secure data transfer system for Pro Line Fusion®, Pro Line 21™, and Pro Line 4™-equipped aircraft is now available for Cessna Citation XLS+ operators. The system was recently certified on an XLS+ owned and operated by Michigan-based Avfuel Corporation. Duncan Aviation performed the installation.
AIM securely uploads flight critical database updates and downloads maintenance information post-flight using available Wi-Fi or cellular links throughout the world that automatically transfer information to and from the Ascend Data Center. Depending on the avionics generation, automatically transferred databases include Flight Management System (FMS) navigation data, electronic charts, terrain and surface management databases, among others.

“AIM brings a level of convenience that is unprecedented in the business aviation industry and maximum security from cyber threats due to its robust design,” said Steve Timm, vice president and general manager, Flight Information Solutions for Rockwell Collins. “AIM also assures flight departments that their aircraft databases are always compliant and current.”
“AIM will increase our level of safety and reduce the chance that we are flying without having all of the proper database updates,” said Jad Donaldson, Chief Pilot, Avfuel Corporation. “My flight department is looking forward to using AIM and seeing how it will reduce our workload.”
Donaldson added that Rockwell Collins and Duncan Aviation worked together as one powerful team in order to help get this installation completed on schedule and without post-install issues.
