Five killed in Ukraine helicopter crash: official

Five people were killed Tuesday when a helicopter owned by the Ukrainian interior ministry crashed back to the ground shortly after take-off.

Three crew and two engineers died when the Mi-8 helicopter that is used by the ministry's internal troops lost height and crashed during a routine flight at the Alexandria aerodrome in the central Kirovograd region, the interior ministry said in a statement quoted by the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.

The cause of the crash was being investigated, the ministry said.
