Saab: New Order for Further Development of Systems for ATM and Airbases for the Swedish Armed Forces

Sweden’s Defence Procurement Agency (FMV) has taken up an option in the earlier contract ‘Systems Support for Air Traffic and Airbase Systems 2011-2012’ which Saab signed on 5 September 2011.

The total order value for this option comes to about 152 MSEK and it covers continued systems and integration work on equipment for Air Traffic Management in the Swedish Armed Forces.

“Among other things the contract includes continued adaptation of Saab’s SIGMA product family for military Air Traffic Management. Over time, this means that Swedish military control-towers will acquire extremely advanced equipment that meets the highest international standards,” says Johan Ohlson, Head of Product Area Security and Traffic Management.

Development of SIGMA began in 1992, and since then SIGMA has been sold to both military and civil customers. The product is currently an important part of Saab’s offering in Air Traffic Management.

The project will run over the period 2013-2015.
