Curtiss-Wright Controls Awarded Contract by NGC

  • For Rotary Geared Actuators for the Ground/Air Task Oriented Radar (G/ATOR) Program

Curtiss-Wright Controls, Inc. today announced that it has received a contract from Northrop Grumman Corp. (NYSE: NOC) to provide Rotary Actuator technology for use in the U.S. Marine Corps Ground/Air Task Oriented Radar (G/ATOR) program.  Under the contract, Curtiss-Wright Controls Flight Systems business group will supply rotary actuators that Northrop Grumman will integrate into the program’s Radar Equipment Group Elevation Actuator Hardware Mod Kit. The initial contract is valued at $1.6 million for engineering development.  Deliveries of initial units began in the third quarter of 2012 and are scheduled to continue through the second quarter of 2013.

“Curtiss-Wright is proud of its market and technology leadership in rotary actuator technology,” said Tom Quinly, President of Curtiss-Wright Controls. “We are excited to have been selected by Northrop Grumman to provide our rotary actuators for use in the important G/ATOR program, as this represents the first partnership of what we hope to be many between our Flight Systems group and Northrop Grumman on the G/ATOR program.”

Curtiss Wright’s rotary geared actuators transmit power from an electric motor to lift and lower the G/ATOR system’s flat-screen antenna array.  These advanced, highly reliable actuators are based on Curtiss-Wright technology currently installed on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter aircraft to control movement of the lead edge flaps on the aircraft’s wings.
