Hartzell ASC-II Composite Propeller Selected for Kestrel Aircraft's New Single Engine Turboprop
Hartzell Propeller Inc. has been selected by Kestrel Aircraft as the propeller supplier for its new all-composite, single-engine turboprop. Working closely with Kestrel, Hartzell is developing a new ASC-II™ structural composite blade to optimize performance through the aircraft's flight envelope and maximize cruise performance, while still providing good low end performance for operations in and out of short runways.
Hartzell’s ASC-II™ blade for the Kestrel will be an all carbon monocoque structure with a co-molded electroformed nickel erosion shield. These blades are constructed using an advanced, highly developed Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding (VARTM) process. Hartzell's true composite blade for the 110-inch diameter, 4-blade lightweight propeller will provide significant weight savings without sacrificing strength or durability.
