Email11 treated for smoke inhalation on plane in Germany
Eleven passengers required medical treatment Monday on a Turkey-bound jet after smoke began pouring into the cabin during a planned stop in the western German city of Cologne, authorities said.
The Boeing 737 with nearly 200 people on board and operated by XL Airways had landed at Cologne airport from the German city of Hanover and was to continue on to Gaziantep in southeastern Turkey, the airline and the fire brigade said.

"Eleven people had to be taken by ambulance to area hospitals. All had respiratory difficulties," the fire brigade said in a statement.
"Of them, five passengers had moderately serious health complaints and six more minor problems."
All the passengers and crew were able to leave the aircraft via the boarding stairs. Those who did not need medical treatment were expected to be able to fly to Turkey late Monday, XL Airways said.
It was not immediately clear what led smoke to develop in the cabin.
