Astronics Selected as Supplier of EMPOWER(R) In-Seat Power SystemsEAST AURORA, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 12, 2005--Astronics Corporation (NASDAQ: ATRO), a leader in advanced, high-performance lighting and electrical distribution systems for the global aerospace industry, today announced its subsidiary, Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems (AES), was selected by three international airlines to provide its EMPOWER(R) In-Seat Power Supply (ISPS). The anticipated revenue impact is over $7 million for the three contracts.
China Eastern Airlines Corp. Limited, of Shanghai, has signed an agreement to install the EMPOWER(R) ISPS in business and economy classes on 15 Airbus A330-300's and five Airbus A330-200's beginning in 2005 through 2007.

Beginning in the first quarter of 2006 and continuing through 2007, Air China Limited of Beijing will install the EMPOWER(R) ISPS systems in 20 Airbus A330-200's in three configurations for both business and economy classes.
Astronics AES was also selected as the supplier of its power distribution systems for up to 13 Virgin Atlantic Airways Airbus A340-600's in the premium economy and upper class cabins. Delivery is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2005 and continue through the first quarter of 2008.

The EMPOWER(R) ISPS is an in-seat power system that meets the increasing demands of passenger laptop computers and is the only system that provides 150 watts of 110V AC, 60 Hz power. The FAA recently approved the use of 150 watts for in-seat power systems. With the highest power output available on the market, the EMPOWER(R) ISPS combines high-efficiency and reliability in a lightweight package. Innovative features on the newly designed EMPOWER(R) ISPS include up to 3 outlets per box, compatibility with plugs from over 140 countries and backlit receptacle for use in darkened cabins.
The EMPOWER(R) ISPS was designed and tested to meet Airbus, Boeing and industry specifications currently in use and those adopted by Airbus for the A380 and Boeing for the 787.
