Regional Compagnie Aérienne Européenne has signed a 15-year OnPointSM solution agreement for maintenance, repair and overhaul of its CF34-8E and -10E engines that power its 16 EMBRAER E170 and 10 E190 aircraft. The OnPoint agreement is valued at more than $230 million (USD) over the life of the contract. Regional Compagnie Aérienne Européenne is a subsidiary of Air France-KLM Group.
"Contracting a long-term services contract with GE will definitely meet our expectations for CF34 maintenance, while taking advantage of AF/KL Group synergies," said Jacques Pauty, purchasing director of Regional Compagnie Aérienne Européenne.
"GE Aviation has extensive knowledge of its CF34 engine family, and Regional Compagnie Aérienne Européenne will receive the benefits of this knowledge and OEM material for its MRO needs to keep their engines in peak operating condition," said Paul McElhinney, president and chief executive officer of GE Aviation's Services organization.
With 1,800 employees, Regional, a wholly owned Air France subsidiary, operates more than 300 daily flights, covering a network based around the Air France KLM Group hubs at Charles de Gaulle, Amsterdam and Lyon, and connects 20 French regional capitals and 30 European cities. The airline operates a fleet of 50 aircraft, including 10 Embraer 170 and 10 Embraer 190 aircraft, with an additional six E170 to be delivered this year. Regional offers a wide range of parallel services at its aircraft maintenance centres in Clermont-Ferrand and Lille by specializing in the maintenance of Embraer jets, of which it is the leading European operator, as well as turbo-props.
