Two dead in Lake Constance light aircraft crash

The mangled remains of a light aircraft that crashed into Lake Constance were recovered Monday with two dead bodies on board, Austrian authorities said.

The plane plunged into the lake bordering Austria, Germany and Switzerland on Friday and a search operation took until Sunday to locate the wreckage 50 metres (over 160 feet) below the surface using sonar equipment.

The 55-year-old pilot was said to be experienced and the cause of the accident was not known. Accompanying him was thought to be a man in his 20s.
