DLS selected to provide RoK with Multifunctional Information Distribution System terminals
Data Link Solutions (DLS), a joint venture of Rockwell Collins and BAE Systems, has been awarded a $5.5 million contract to provide Multifunctional Information Distribution System - Low Volume Terminals (MIDS-LVTs) for the Republic of Korea Air Force. Deliveries began in late 2011 and will continue through 2014. The terminals will be installed on F-16 fighters. Work will be performed in Wayne, N.J., and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
“This contract enables a critical military requirement for the Republic of Korea Air Force F-16s to meet their data link network requirements,” said DLS Director Mike Beltrani.
MIDS-LVT was developed by a multinational consortium to provide Link 16 capability at a lower weight, volume and cost. MIDS-LVT provides real-time data communications, situational awareness and navigation, digital voice and TACAN, all in a jam-resistant, crypto-secured package.
The MIDS program is managed by the U.S. Navy MIDS Program Office in San Diego, Calif.
