Thales to Provide Civil Air Navigation Systems for Mexico

As a result of an international call for tender, Thales is proud to announce that the Mexican Air Navigation Service Provider SENEAM has selected Thales’ technology for its air navigation renovation programme for the second consecutive year. The Thales Instrumental Landing System (ILS) associated with Distance Measuring Equipment  (DME) will provide safer landings and our VHF Omnidirectional Radio Range (VOR) and Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) will provide first class navigation equipment on various airports. These VOR/DME systems will be used for both en-route and terminal area guidance.

As part of this contract, our Local industrial partner company Amfar will ensure all necessary civil works, equipment  installation, training and all other logistical activities. Production of the systems will be completed in the next couple of months at the Thales Milan (Gorgonzola) site in Italy and will be delivered to SENEAM early next year.

Vaclav Sourek, Director of Sales of the Air Systems Division in Germany said, ” We are proud to have been again selected to help SENEAM provide the highest level of safety for the Mexican airspace. Thales was already selected in 2010  to supply 4 ILS/VOR and 7 VORDME systems to SENEAM and this new contract confirms SENEAM’s confidence in Thales systems.”

The high performance capability of the Thales ILS, VOR and DME systems are the key to this new success and confirm Thales’ ability to deliver advanced technology on time and on budget for both civil and military Air Traffic Control.

Thales is a world leader in air traffic control systems and civil radars, with a 70% share of thenavigation aid systems market. Thales offers an integrated “gate to gate” solution, from the phase prior to take-off right through to landing, in order to guarantee airport security, the efficiency of air traffic management activities, the sharing of aircraft data and the transparency of transfer operations between territories.
