Inmedius S1000Dconstructor Streamlines Part Catalog Authoring & Management

Builds S1000D IPD Data Modules with Parts or S2000M Input

PITTSBURGH, PA - December 20, 2011 --[ASDWire]-- Inmedius(r), Inc. announces the release of Inmedius S1000Dconstructor(tm), an advanced project-oriented parts catalog management solution. Comprehensive and efficient, the system significantly reduces costs by simplifying the complex task of managing the parts lists, a group of equipment elements indexed to an illustration, with callouts. Authors are also able to create Illustrated Parts Data (IPD) S1000D Data Modules from multiple sources including S2000M, a material management standard.

"Inmedius designed the parts catalog solution for our Inmedius S1000D Publishing Suite(tm) clients in order to cut costs, increase efficiency, and to maintain the most accurate parts data," explained Sean Rushing, Director of S1000D Products and Services. "With Constructor, a parts catalog is created either from scratch, or by importing data from other specifications like S2000M, or a Microsoft(r) Excel spreadsheet. The parts catalog is implemented in the data base, allowing for the authoring and management of lists, and generation of IPD as output."

Access to accurate parts information is essential when managing technical publications. IPD Data Modules are complex and tedious to author and manage, making parts data management one of the most costly S1000D technical publication processes. Creating and maintaining parts catalogs requires collecting diverse information from a wide variety of sources. Their construction is generally identified as a separate skill set, requiring a specialized tool to streamline authoring and enhance productivity.

"Inmedius is the world leader in delivering advanced S1000D products and services," stated Gary L. Schaffer, President and CEO, Inmedius, Inc. "The S1000D Publishing Suite is the de facto choice of leading Aerospace and Defense organizations around the globe and we continually expand our offerings in direct response to customer demand with software solutions like Constructor."

Fully integrated with Inmedius S1000Dmanager(tm), Constructor provides immediate and straightforward integration with the Common Source Database (CSDB) for robust capabilities essential to project management. The seamless combination allows the parts catalog builder to update information directly within Manager's CSDB, enabling users to quickly and easily generate IPD Data Modules. Other key Constructor features include the ability to maintain parts catalogs across multiple projects, store and manage parts information, and to import data from external sources.
