A4A Comment on DOT Request For Airline Emissions Data

WASHINGTON - Airlines for America (A4A), the industry trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines, today issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Department of Transportation requests for information identifying European and U.S. airlines' compliance under the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS).

"The information the U.S. government is requesting is intended to assist in countering the illegal application of the EU ETS to U.S. airlines. We applaud the government efforts to turn back the application of the unilateral scheme and to bring the EU and its member states back to the international negotiating table to implement the global sectoral approach framework provisionally agreed last year by the International Civil Aviation Organization."
