"GE Aviation is proud to partner with FedEx to provide engines and services for the Boeing 767-300 Freighter as part of its fleet renewal efforts," said Kevin McAllister, vice president and general manager of Global Sales at GE Aviation. "FedEx Express currently operates more than 500 CF6-6, CF6-50, CF6-80A and CF6-80C2 engines, and this new order for engines and services demonstrates the customer's trust in GE."
The CF6-80C2 engine is GE's best-selling widebody engine and has accumulated more than 173 million flight hours and 40 million cycles, which is equivalent to 380,000 trips to the moon. The CF6-80C2 engine incorporates the Tech CF6 program, which consists of advanced airfoil cooling technology into the high-pressure turbine (HPT). This is standard on all CF6-80C2 production engines.
