Amos 5 and Loutch 5A communications satellites in orbit
- With payloads by Thales Alenia Space, preferred partner to the Russian space industry
The two satellites were built by two long-standing partners on key Russian space programs: ISS Reshetnev was the prime contractor, and supplied its Express-1000 platform, while Thales Alenia Space provided the communication payload for AMOS 5, and payload units, plus payload test bench for Loutch 5A. AMOS 5 payload has been assembled and tested in Toulouse and satellite has been integrated and tested in Zheleznogorsk, Russia. Loutch 5A payload and satellite have been integrated and tested in Zheleznogorsk.

Amos 5 will expand Spacecom's fleet, and will feature a fixed pan-African C-band beam and three Ku-band beams - all covering Africa with connectivity to Europe and the Middle East and supporting multiple transponders in both C-band and Ku-band The AMOS-5 satellite will offer Spacecom customers a wide range of satellite services, including: Direct to Home (DTH) broadcasting, VSAT communications and broadband Internet, telephony services, data truncking, cellular backhaul, video distribution. The satellite weighed about 2 metric tons at launch, and offers payload power of 5.9 kW. Amos 5 carries 18 C-band and 18 Ku-band transponders and will be located at 17 degrees East.
The Louch-5A geostationary relay satellite will be positioned at 16 degrees West and will provide TV and data communications links between the International Space Station and the ground as well as orbital control of spacecraft in low Earth orbit (LEO) throughout their operational life. Louch-5A offers six S-band and Ku-band channels,
