Alion Awarded AFSMO Contract to Provide Support for Critical Spectrum-Dependent Weapons Systems
- Technology Solutions Firm to Analyze Feasibility of Relocating Weapons Platforms to Alternative RF Bands
Alion's work involves determining the effects of planned and proposed spectrum relocation changes on Air Force weapons programs. This includes spectrum management and analysis, RF spectrum modeling, development of RF studies and spectrum assessments to determine spectrum location practicability as well as the impact of spectrum repurposing on weapons platforms and systems.
"The federal government is under pressure to share its sizeable inventory of radio spectrum, and as national spectrum negotiations progress, Alion's work will ensure that Air Force commands have the RF spectrum they need for critical weapons systems such as precision-guided munitions, unmanned aerial systems, radar, surveillance systems, telemetry, targeting and other ancillary RF systems," said Sue Archer, Alion Senior Vice President and Manager of the Operational Solutions Group. "The most important factor in this work is to understand the warfighter spectrum requirements and work to sustain spectrum use that will enhance the warfighter and military operations."
