Airbus Military and PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PT DI) today signed a teaming agreement, defining the concrete initiatives that will allow PT DI to stabilize the Indonesian aerospace company and set in place a growth plan for the coming decade.
This agreement follows the signing of a strategic collaboration plan last July.
The recovery plan, covering the next 18 months, defines concrete initiatives to upgrade the company's processes and its engineering, marketing and MRO capabilities, with Airbus Military providing know-how and the required technology. Then PTDI will have the opportunity to market and co-produce the C295 provided the Indonesian government confirm their interest and in particular with regards to the replacement of the Fokker 27 aircraft of the Indonesian Air Force.
Following a thorough analysis of the civil market, possible product developments are identified to cover the civil air transport needs in the 19-50 pax utility segment, enhancing air connectivity within Indonesia and within the region. Airbus Military's and PT DI's aim is to jointly define and produce products to capture a substantial share of the Indonesian and export markets in this segment.
In the mid- to longer-term, the Airbus Military platforms and capabilities in mission systems integration could provide further opportunities for joint development, responding to demand for airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance and search and rescue mission aircraft. And finally, the market potential for the A400M and MRTT in the ASEAN region is significant and, leveraging Indonesia as a platform, this could generate substantial further revenues for both Airbus Military and PT DI in the future.
Airbus Military CEO Domingo Urena Raso stated upon the signature of the agreement: "I see a great future in Indonesia and in this cooperation with the Indonesian aerospace industry. The know-how and state of the art processes and technology we provide fit perfectly with the skills, experience and market potential offered by PT DI, creating a win-win position for all partners involved".
