1st PurePower PW1200G Engine Concludes Ground TestingWest Palm Beach, Fla. - Ground testing of Pratt & Whitney's first PW1200G family engine - the PW1217G engine for the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) - recently concluded. The engine, the first of an eight-engine validation and certification program, completed more than 300 hours and 1,100 cycles. Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX) company.
"We have successfully validated the overall design of the PW1200G engine since starting our test program in April. After completing airfoil stress measurements, we conducted testing to confirm performance, noise and emissions." said Bob Saia, vice president, Next Generation Product Family. "We are very pleased with these initial test results demonstrating that the design is on track to meet our commitments to Mitsubishi. This engine also ran cyclic endurance testing just prior to returning to our Connecticut facility for inspection and re-build for its next test program."
