FLIR Systems Awarded $4M Contract From Japanese National Police AgencyPORTLAND, OR -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 05/12/2005 -- FLIR Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: FLIR) announced today that it has received a contract from the Japanese National Police Agency (JNPA) to provide its latest generation Star SAFIRE® III airborne camera system to support local operations and counter-terrorism missions. The systems will be used throughout the 47 prefectures of Japan on rotary wing aircraft. The selection was made by open competition. Deliveries will begin immediately and be completed by the end of June, 2005.
FLIR Systems has fielded over 900 SAFIRE® family systems to customers that demand the highest performing EO/IR capabilities for executing a variety of critical and life saving missions. With over 110 of FLIR Systems' airborne thermal imaging systems deployed successfully in Japan, this contract further solidifies FLIR's already high market share in the region.
