Microwave power modules for UAV datalinks introduced by TMD

Hayes, Middlesex, UK, June 8, 2011 --[ASDWire]-- TMD Technologies has introduced two new microwave power modules (MPMs) designed specifically for use with military datalinks on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Developed from the company's existing range of MPMs for radar, EW and communications applications, the PTX8208 and PTX8209 cover the 7.9-8.4 GHz and 13.75-14.5 GHz frequency bands, and provide CW output powers of 100 W and 110 W respectively.

These new units benefit from particularly low noise performance and their design includes linearisers, which ensure excellent linearity and high useable carrier powers.

Like all TMD MPMs, the units are highly efficient, lightweight and reliable, particularly compared with solid state alternatives.

TMD's range of MPMs includes several other broadband amplifiers suitable for communications applications: the PTX8340 covering 2.0-8.0 GHz at 100 W, the PTX8200 covering 4.5-18.0 GHz at 100 W and the PTX8207 covering 4.5-18.0 GHz at 140 W. All these units can operate CW or pulsed.
