FLIR Wins Multimillion Dollar Sub-Contract with NGC

  • Company Introduces New Radar for Desert Environments
Portland, OR - FLIR Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: FLIR), announced today that it has secured a multimillion dollar sub-contract with Northrop Grumman. As part of this contract, FLIR has developed a new medium-range ground-based radar designed specifically for desert environments, the LSR-5000. The final systems will be deployed in the Middle East region for wide area perimeter security at critical facilities.

The LSR-5000 wide area surveillance radar is based on the same highly reliable technology inherent in all FLIR radars and adapted to meet the rigorous requirements of a desert environment. The system effectively monitors up to 78 square kilometers while maintaining extremely low false alarm rates. Work on this contract is taking place at the FLIR facilities in Laval, Quebec, Canada.
