Smiths Detection today announces a contract to supply more than 550 LCD (Lightweight Chemical Detectors) 3.3s to the German Armed Forces.
The contract, a follow-on from previous orders of almost 600 LCD units since 2007, also includes consumables and accessories.
Mal Maginnis, Vice President of Smiths Detection's Business Management Group, said: "We are committed to developing advanced technology that helps armed forces and security professionals detect and respond to the widest range of threats. This latest LCD 3.3 order will provide the German military an additional layer of protection against chemical exposure".
The LCD, which can be hand-held or clipped to a belt, detects and identifies chemical threats by determining the agent or type, class, concentration and dosage of exposure.
