Smiths Detection Wins $43.5 M TSA Order for NextGen Advanced Technology X-ray Detection Systems
- Next-Generation X-ray Technology Provides Advanced Screening; First Delivery Order Placed Against $325 Million IDIQ Contract
The order for HI-SCAN 6040aTiX systems is one of the first delivery orders placed against a five-year, Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with a ceiling of $325 million. The award of the IDIQ contract was announced earlier in September.
The HI-SCAN 6040aTiX X-ray system is among the first to be included on TSA's Qualified Technology List (QTL) for next generation Advanced Technology X-ray systems.
Stephen Phipson, President of Smiths Detection, said: "This is an important order from TSA for aTiX. Our advanced X-ray technology provides enhanced capabilities at airport checkpoints with the potential for significant performance upgrades in the future."
HI-SCAN 6040aTiX systems, which are manufactured in Edgewood, Maryland, capture multiple views of carry-on bags in a single sweep to provide more information about every piece of luggage. They also feature software algorithms which can be upgraded to detect evolving threats.
