Liteye Awarded $22.6 M by US Army to Produce Monocular Display
(Centaennial, Colorado, September 8, 2010) -- The US Army Communications & Electronics Command in Washington, this week awarded Liteye Systems, Inc., a five-year contract, valued at up to $22.6 million,to produce the new LRAS3 Monocular Display which will be utilized with the LRAS3 system.Production work will be performed at Liteye's facility in Centennial, Colorado, beginning immediately, with deliveries starting at the end of this month.
The LRAS3 Monocular Display system consists of a MIL-STD, handheld display and battery pack. The Monocular Display features a high-resolution OLED microdisplay, advanced energy efficient electronics, and state-of-the-art optics, all packaged in a rugged form factor designed to be utilized anywhere in the world.
Rick Sondag, vice president of U.S. sales for Liteye, said, "This new Monocular Display offers a reliable viewfinder to provide our servicemen and women with another advantage in the combat arena. Our work force takes great pride in manufacturing another tool for use by our U.S. warfighters!"
The LRAS3 system, or Long-Range Advanced Scout Surveillance System, is a multi-sensor system which provides real-time ability to detect, recognize, identify, and geo-locate distant targets. This system is already deployed in US High-Mobility Multi-purpose Wheeled Vehicles and the Stryker Armored vehicle. It can also be utilized on a tripod for dismounted missions. The new Monocular Display will provide another way to view the information provided by this system.
