SAIC Awarded Contract by SPAWARSYSCEN Atlantic

  • Company to Provide Technical and Engineering Services in Support of the Enhanced Tactical Automated Security System (ETASS)
(McLean, Va., August 30, 2010) -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) announced today it was awarded a new prime contract by the U.S. Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWARSYSCEN) Atlantic to provide technical and engineering services in support of the Enhanced Tactical Automated Security System (ETASS). The multiple award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a one-year base period of performance, four one-year options, and a total ceiling value of more than $37 million for both awardees, if all options are exercised.

ETASS is a command-and-control platform that integrates a wide range of sensors and other technologies. It is a deployable, integrated security system designed for a variety of force-protection missions. The system includes standoff and perimeter-detection technology, immediate visual assessment, command-and-control display equipment, and supporting power and communications infrastructures. These elements are enhanced through the integration of ground-surveillance radars, fiber-optic sensors, thermal imagers and closed-circuit television cameras. Under the contract, SAIC will help enhance the system by connecting a wider range of sensors and assessment devices, as well as command and control display element systems, into a more tightly integrated security framework. The company will also provide system upgrades to ensure seamless integration and interoperability.
