Goodrich and SYPAQ Australia to Team for ISR Programs

  • Agreement signed at Farnborough Airshow will enhance capabilities for future Australian defense and civil programs
(Charlotte, N.C., July 21, 2010) -- Goodrich Corporation's (NYSE: GR) ISR Systems business in Malvern, UK signed a teaming agreement with Australia's SYPAQ, a systems integration and consultancy company based in Melbourne, Victoria, to support future intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) systems within Australia. The agreement was signed at the Farnborough Airshow today by Sam Macleod, managing director, Goodrich ISR Systems in Malvern, and George Vicino, managing director, SYPAQ. Under the agreement, SYPAQ will act as the prime contractor for Goodrich's civil and defense ISR campaigns within Australia.

Deputy Premier of Victoria Rob Hulls and Air Vice Marshall John Kindler, who witnessed the signing, noted that the teaming agreement was a great example of the type of cooperation they want to promote between Victoria and companies with locations in the UK.

Macleod said, "With leading-edge ISR capabilities, Goodrich and SYPAQ intend to provide network-centric solutions for the Australian Defence Forces. We will focus on a 'system of systems' approach to future battlespace challenges, force protection solutions, and civil emergency service applications such as bushfire monitoring."

Deputy Premier Hulls said, "It is exciting to see SYPAQ and Goodrich, two leading edge companies, sign an agreement such as this. Victoria has one of the largest and most innovative aerospace and defense sectors in Australia and it is a testament to both Victorian industry and SYPAQ's capability. I congratulate both companies and wish them well for the future."

Vicino agreed saying, "Goodrich ISR technology is well suited to current Australian ISR requirements in defense as well as civil security and emergency services domains, in particular the need for high-performance image capture, exploitation, storage and retrieval systems. Together, Goodrich and SYPAQ intend to provide integrated ISR solutions that are fully supported in Australia."
