GD Awarded $21 M to Support the US Army

(Fairfax, Va., July 15, 2010) -- General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has been awarded $21 million in task orders through the Installation Information Infrastructure Modernization Program (I3MP) contract to upgrade the voice telecommunications switching capabilities at two U.S. Army bases: Fort Carson, Colo., and Redstone Arsenal, Ala. The task orders cover a two-year period of performance.

General Dynamics will engineer, furnish, install, test and cut over into operational service (EFIT&C) a full range of government certified telecommunications systems, including voice, transport and data networks.

The effort will result in modernized voice systems that pave the way for future convergence of Army voice and data networks.

"General Dynamics has successfully completed infrastructure modernization projects for the U.S. Army for more than ten years," said Zannie Smith, senior vice president of the Army Solutions Division. "This extensive experience will enable us to provide timely and efficient support to Fort Carson and Redstone Arsenal which will enhance communications for military personnel stationed at those facilities, thus enabling the cooperation, quick response and seamless operations necessary for mission achievement and warfighter readiness."
