ViaSat to Develop HAIPE IS Version 4 for Encryption and Cyber Security Products
- Development incorporates Suite B IPSec that makes information assurance more affordable and, interoperable, promoting wider use of encryption
Through the HAIPE v4 program, ViaSat will extend its line of encryption and cyber security products to new markets and users, expanding its presence in satellite communications, UAV/airborne, infrastructure, and edge markets. The development is centered on smaller, lower-cost versions of AltaSec products, and the next generation of ViaSat PSIAM, a re-programmable, high-assurance crypto system designed to specifically address network-centric architectures and Cryptographic Modernization initiatives. PSIAM is at the core of all ViaSat information assurance products and embeddable crypto technology.
"The new Suite B standards from NSA are going to make it easier for military and government users at all levels to secure their communications," said Chris Wren, GM Information Assurance and Cyber Security at ViaSat. "With HAIPE v4 development, we'll open up the information assurance market to a much larger population of users by providing more affordable and interoperable encryption and cyber security products."
HAIPE v4 is part of the NSA Cryptographic Interoperability Strategy (CIS), which is focused on ways to increase assured sharing of information both within the U.S. and between the U.S. and her partners. CIS is promoting development of a common suite of public crypto standards, protocols, algorithms and modes referred to as the "Secure Sharing Suite". Some operational examples include enabling the U.S. Government to securely share intelligence information with State and local First Responders and for warfighters to securely share information on the battlefield with non-traditional coalition partners.
