Bombardier Adds Learjet 85 Simulator to Worldwide Training Network

(Montreal, July 6, 2010) -- Learjet 85 aircraft full-flight simulator (FFS) from CAE to aid in certification of revolutionary aircraft and extend Bombardier's customer training offering

Bombardier Aerospace today announced the purchase of a Learjet 85 jet full-flight simulator (FFS) from CAE, an important step in the Learjet 85 aircraft program and in the expansion of Bombardier's worldwide pilot and maintenance training network. The FFS will be housed at Bombardier's aircraft training centre in Montreal and will be used to support aircraft testing and certification in advance of the Learjet 85 jet's planned entry-into-service in 2013. Customer training on the new simulator is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

"The Learjet 85 aircraft simulator will be instrumental in refining the design and flight characteristics of this remarkable aircraft," said James Hoblyn, President, Bombardier Customer Services & Specialized and Amphibious Aircraft. "It will then transition to provide customers with valuable pilot training prior to the delivery of their aircraft, as well as initial and recurrent training throughout the full life cycle of the Learjet 85 aircraft program."

Bombardier is the only business and commercial aircraft Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to provide pilot and maintenance training for its customers, and recently announced plans to expand its worldwide aircraft training network, in collaboration with CAE, through the addition of five simulators in Europe, the Middle East and North America. Bombardier currently offers aircraft training through its two company-owned training centres in Montreal, Quebec and Dallas, Texas, as well as via an Authorized Training Provider (ATP) agreement with CAE in Morristown, New Jersey; Burgess Hill, United Kingdom; Dubai, U.A.E; and, beginning in the first quarter of 2011, Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

"CAE is very pleased to have been chosen by Bombardier to supply the full-flight simulator for the Learjet 85 jet," said Jeff Roberts, CAE Group President, Civil Simulation Products, Training and Services. "Participating in the Learjet 85 aircraft program is incredibly exciting for CAE and further strengthens our relationship that began more than 30 years ago."
