AAI Receives USAF Award for Meteorological System Logistics and Technical Services

(Hunt Valley, Md., June 28, 2010) -- AAI Corporation, an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today that it has received a five-year indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) award with a total potential value of $47.5 million from the U.S. Air Force 84th Combat Sustainment Wing, based at Hill Air Force Base in Utah.

The first delivery order is valued at more than $5.2 million. Under this IDIQ contract, AAI's Logistics & Technical Services team will provide contractor logistics support (CLS) for the AN/TMQ-53 Tactical Meteorological Observing System (TMOS). TMOS is used in areas near Air Force landing strips around the world to provide weather data for planners and field commanders. AAI will manage TMOS sustainment from its Ogden, Utah, location by providing 24/7 on-call assistance and management of remote supplies, including 24-hour turnaround for U.S.-based spares and repairs and 72-hour turnaround for international requests.

By taking careful control of the supply chain that feeds system repairs, we can drive an effective process that delivers consistent TMOS availability for the Air Force."

In addition, AAI will lead life cycle analysis for the TMOS assets, then recommend and implement recommendations for spares management and obsolescence planning. These support and sustainment activities include engineering modifications, sensor upgrades and other improvements as recommended.
