FP Europe Launches Unique Logistics Management System
(June 23, 2010) -- Force Protection Europe will be showcasing a ground-breaking logistics management system, specially designed for the needs of military vehicles, during DVD from 23 to 24 June (Stand no OR-04). Currently, most logistics management packages have been created to meet the needs of the commercial and military aviation sectors and the ground vehicles market has been awaiting an appropriate solution.Known as Karrus, the system is a comprehensive closed-loop logistics software management suite with unprecedented capability to optimise life cycle support, increase operational availability and minimise costs.

Easy to learn, easy to use and inexpensive to populate, Karrus analyses complex logistics data, instantly providing the information needed to answer a diversity of key strategic and tactical questions. What parts are needed and how many should we stock? What is our current fleet availability? What repair policy should we adopt for our fleet? How much will it cost to run our fleet for the next 10 years? Addressing issues such as these used to take hours of manual labour, but all that has changed with the arrival of Karrus.
Using input from sources such as deployed Field Service Representatives, Karrus provides a snapshot of fleet status and health, analysing every component to enable informed evaluations and assessment to be made. Available data includes the performance history of components and their 'repair, replace, stock' categorisation.
Force Protection Europe Ltd's Managing Director, David Hind, said: "Military fleet operators around the world have been searching for a system like this. It will radically reduce the man hours devoted to logistics information management, enabling important decisions to be made more quickly and efficiently. It will also help ensure that logistics teams have total clarity of their stock holding and needs, thus cutting down on areas such as over ordering. We have tested the system on our own fleet and it has proven its worth very quickly."
The system will be promoted on a global basis, including in the United States by Force Protection Europe's parent company.
Paul Kovarovic, Senior Vice President, Force Protection Industries, Inc., said: "Controlling the ever-changing flow of logistics data and the resulting analysis is complex, but it is also vitally important, especially in these days of budget constraints. The Karrus set of modular logistics tools brings to the ground vehicle sector the levels of access to information previously only available to aviation support."
