DISA Selects NGC for Joint Logistics System

(Reston, Va., June 14, 2010) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has received a delivery order under the Encore II contracting vehicle to advance interoperability between combat support (CS) and command and control (C2) systems and produce an integrated picture of the battlespace for the combatant command and joint task force commanders to plan, execute and control logistics operations.

Northrop Grumman was awarded a cost plus award fee/firm fixed-price delivery order contract from the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) with the initial award of $15 million and options that, if exercised, would raise the total value to more than $95 million. The contract has a one-year base period and four one-year award terms, making the potential period of performance five years. Program management and technical direction will come from the Global Combat Support System-Joint (GCSS-J) Program Management Office, Program Executive Office for Command and Control Capabilities in Falls Church, Va.

Under the contract, Northrop Grumman will manage development and continue transitioning the GCSS-J application to a service-oriented architecture to improve capabilities and provide dynamic interoperability, allowing information sharing in near-real time, between joint CS and C2 systems including Network Centric Enterprise Services (NCES).

"We will be integrating disparate systems to implement a single, end-to-end capability for managing units, personnel and equipment. With GCSS-J, we'll enable the combatant command and joint task force commanders to best anticipate, allocate, and direct the flow of available resources."

The Northrop Grumman team will develop software and as system integrator, integrate third-party developed software, commercial-off-the-shelf software, and open source software onto a secure data center system. The team will also incorporate legacy data sources to provide joint logistics situational awareness in a common knowledge management environment.
