L-3 Delivers C4ISR System for USCG 1st Sentinel Class FRC
- The system was designed, built, tested and delivered in fourteen months
In partnership with L-3 Maritime Systems, the CS-East team was able to successfully meet all of the rigorous program milestones on time and on budget, which included a preliminary design review, a critical design review, as well as Visual Tempest Inspections, all of which met or exceeded customer expectations.
"This is an exciting achievement for L-3 as it exemplifies our commitment to provide our customers with integrated, scalable, cost-efficient technologies," said John Tierney, acting president of L-3 CS-East. "Our success in delivering a fully operational system to the Coast Guard within fourteen months was a result of strong commitment from the L-3 team and a collaborative relationship with both Bollinger Shipyards and the Coast Guard. L-3's C4ISR system is extremely capable not only for a ship class of this size, but also for larger ship configurations moving forward."
Earlier this year, L-3 was awarded a contract by Bollinger Shipyards to provide the C4ISR system for the next three Sentinel Class ships. The system utilizes best-in-class products, including the alarm and announcing system and integrated bridge and navigation control system from L-3 Maritime Systems, as well as CS-East's MarCom(r) integrated and automated internal/external voice communications system and Symphony(tm) automated communications control manager for radio rooms. All three C4ISR systems are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2010 and will be delivered to the Coast Guard in 2011. The Coast Guard is also considering plans which would increase the total ship quantity to 58.
The Sentinel Class is a 154-foot cutter that supports a broad spectrum of U.S. Coast Guard missions. The C4ISR systems on the Sentinel Class Cutter will be fully interoperable with the Coast Guard's existing and future platforms, and also with those of the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security.
