MTNGS Awarded Contract With DISA for Satellite Communication Services

(Leesburg, Va., March 16, 2010) -- The U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) has awarded a bid contract worth over $50 million to MTN Government Services (MTNGS), a subsidiary of MTN Satellite Communications (MTN), to provide global broadband satellite services.

Under the firm, fixed-price, five-year contract, MTNGS will supply global C- and Ku-band satellite bandwidth to support the mission requirements for a key agency within DISA.

"This program leverages MTN's seamless worldwide coverage and high-quality network infrastructure to ensure continuous broadband satellite connectivity for crucial DISA operations," said James Ramsey, president, MTNGS. "It is an honor for us to provide mission-critical communication links to support our men and women who go into harm's way in the service of their country."

The initial six-month award is for $6.5 million. The contract includes five options, which when exercised, will bring the total contract value to over $50 million. "This significant contract, won in a tough competitive environment, solidifies MTNGS' position as a key supplier of satellite communication services and equipment to the U.S. government," said Jonathan Weintraub, CEO, MTN.

The global satellite enterprise system for DISA will be comprised of a geospatially diversified satellite infrastructure and geographically diversified ground entry points, providing continuous non-preemptable bandwidth with 24/7/365 availability to support broadband voice and data communications through transportable, tactical, very small aperture terminals (VSAT), according to Ramsey.
