DRS Receives NSA Certification on LINK-11 DTS-K Data Terminal Set

(Bethesda, MD., March 10, 2010) -- DRS Defense Solutions, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DRS Technologies, Inc., announced its DTS-K data terminal set has been certified compliant with the National Security Agency (NSA) Cryptographic Modernization Program.

DTS-K provides Link-11 Data Terminal Set (DTS) and KG-40A crypto functionality in a single chassis for airborne and other small platforms.

The Data Terminal Set was developed for Northrop Grumman's Airborne Early Warning and Electronic Warfare (AEW & EW) facilities in Bethpage, NY and end user NAVAIR PMA-231 for use on the Advanced Hawkeye Aircraft (E-2D).

Compared to older systems, the DTS-K saves size, weight and power (SWaP), increases reliability and provides more data link functionality. It also provides a clear upgrade path for future data link requirements such as Link 22.

DRS has provided the U.S. military and international community with industry leading tactical data link products and capability for more than 20 years. DTS-K is in production and, depending on end user, is available through direct commercial sale or through the Foreign Military Sales process.

Logen Thiran, DRS ICAS vice president and general manager: "This major milestone caps a multi-year investment that the U.S. Department of Defense, Northrop Grumman and DRS have made in developing this revolutionary airborne Tactical Data Link system. It is a prime example of the company's extensive experience in the engineering, testing and manufacturing of tactical data links."
