USAF Extends RSA Phase IIA Contract

  • Lockheed Martin Continues Efforts for Safe and Effective Launch Mission
(Santa Maria, Calif., March 2, 2010) -- Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] announced today that it has been awarded a $23 million contract to provide services which will extend Range Standardization and Automation (RSA) IIA support to complete the Western Range Mission Flight Control Center (MFCC) for Space and Missile Systems Center, U.S. Air Force.

"Lockheed Martin is proud to continue the mission of safe and effective launch operations with the Air Force," said Ed Butt, Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Services - Defense's director of Space Launch C2 Systems. "We will work closely with the 30th Space Wing to provide advanced computer systems architecture supporting modernization efforts for the Launch and Test Range System."

Through the contract extension, Lockheed Martin will document the MFCC concept of operations, train the operators as individuals and crews, demonstrate proficiency through the end-to-end scenario based testing, provide information assurance modifications to the system, and provide Level 1 maintenance and Level 2 sustainment.

Under the original RSA IIA contract, Lockheed Martin has delivered capabilities to both the Eastern Range and Western Range including weather instrumentation, communications networks, network management, and launch range safety mission control.
