OHO-1 will be launched into geostationary transfer orbit in mid-2012, using an Ariane 5 launcher from the Guiana Space Center, Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana.

OverHorizon LLC, a new operator and Arianespace's 32nd customer, has chosen Arianespace to launch its first satellite, OHO-1.

The satellite will be built jointly by Orbital Sciences Corporation and Thales Alenia Space, using the Star 2.3 platform. OHO-1 will weigh about 3,200 kg at launch, and will incorporate a Ku-band regenerative payload for two-way broadband communications with small terminals. These terminals can be installed on moving vehicles, including cars, trucks, boats, aircraft, etc. The satellite's design life exceeds 15 years.

Mr. James Gerow, President of OverHorizon LLC, said, "We are very excited to have contracted launch services from Arianespace for our first OverHorizon satellite. Arianespace is highly trusted in the industry and they are known for mission success and adherence to critical timing. Based on their proven track record, we can be confident that we will fulfill our commitments to our customers and deliver a highly demanded capability on schedule."

Arianespace Chairman and CEO Jean-Yves Le Gall added, "Arianespace is especially proud of being able to serve a new satellite operator, and we would like to thank OverHorizon for selecting us. This latest contract, the fourth we have won so far in 2010, offers further recognition of the quality and competitiveness of our launch Service & Solutions."
